Corporate War Crimes

Prosecuting Pillage of Natural Resources

October 29–30, 2010

The Peace Palace, The Hague, Netherlands

Corporate War Crimes: Prosecuting Pillage of Natural Resources, by Professor James Stewart of the University of British Columbia, comprehensively synthesizes the case law governing pillage, focusing how elements of the crime apply to commercial actors in conflict zones. The manual includes a CD-ROM with all of the relevant case law precedents.

The Open Society Justice Initiative hopes that this publication will familiarize war crimes prosecutors with the nature of pillage and spark a broader policy debate about remedies for the illegal exploitation of natural resources.

Copies of the manual, including the CD-ROM, will be distributed at the conference. You may also download the manual here.
